The Men's Sunday School Class, which meets in the Historical Room, is led by Scott Palmer. All men are welcome!
The Breakfast Club is a small group that meets in the Parsonage across the street from the church every Sunday. A light breakfast fare is offered, followed by group reading through the Gospels and light discussion. All are welcome!
This fall (2017), we will officially kick off the Small Group Ministry at Wesley UMC – and we hope you’ll be a part of it!
Small groups help congregation members:
We hope that the creation of small groups will help individuals, and the
congregation as a whole, grow stronger in relationships and faith. Life
can be a challenge, and spiritual support is important in the Christian walk.
Come see how God might use a small group in your life and for the world!
Adult Bible Studies are usually led by Rev. Amy Sarah Lewis and/or other member(s) of the congregation. These studies come up from time to time; more information should be available as the classes are formed. Classes are usually held at Wesley UMC in the evening and can vary from direct Bible Study to Disciple classes to studies by people such as Beth Moore. Check the church calendar for meeting times and just drop in!
Methodist Confirmation is for youth between the ages of twelve and thirteen. This class is sometimes combined with youth from other area United Methodist Churches in a joint Confirmation Class. The class teaches the youth the basic tenants of Christianity and Methodism. At the completion of the course, the youth are presented to the congregation and accepted as full members in Wesley United Methodist Church.
New Members are welcomed into the Church family after expressing their desire to be so welcomed and attending a New Member Class. Since many of us are confirmed around age twelve or were never confirmed, a refresher in the basic tenants of Christianity and Methodism might be helpful. This group(s) meets as scheduled. At the completion of the course, the participants affirm / reaffirm their faith in God, Methodism, and their participation in Wesley UMC.
The United Methodist Women provide an opportunity to engage in Christian activities both within the church and the community. Each month, they meet together for a light dinner and dessert, then have a program and/or presentation on a particular aspect of the ministry. This group, which is connected to the larger United Methodist Women's organization of the UMC, work to provide needs of those around the world in addition to meeting needs of those here at home.
Meetings are held the third Wednesday of each month from September through June with the exception of winter months, when they meet the Sunday prior following 10:30 AM Worship. All women are welcome!
Wesley's United Methodist Men usually meet on the 2nd Monday of the month to have a meal together, share a devotional, hear a presentation, and discuss the business of the group. Through their fundraising efforts, the group has provided fellowship opportunities to our congregation and the community and has also been able to make donations to local ministry organizations. All men are welcome!
